Why Families in the UK Choose Online Shia Quran Classes

Online Shia Quran classes let your child learn the Quran from the sofa, the bedroom or the kitchen table. At ShiaEdu, a Shia online Quran academy, every lesson is a live video call with one tutor and one student.

Many UK families tell us the same thing: the nearest Shia class is too far away, or it is full, or it clashes with school. Learning at home fixes all three. There is no travel, no waiting list and no need to take time off work to drive your child across town.

It also keeps lessons Shia. Your tutor teaches in the Shia tradition, so what your child hears matches what you teach at home.

How It Works

How an Online Class Works, Step by Step

You book a free trial on WhatsApp. We match you with a tutor, and you get a link to join on Zoom or Teams. On the day, you open the link at the set time and the tutor is waiting for you.

In the trial class, the tutor listens to your child read and asks a few easy questions. Then they suggest where to start. If you like it, you pick how many days a week to study and a time that works. If not, you owe nothing.

Every lesson is one to one, so the tutor can slow down or move ahead whenever your child needs. Parents get a short progress update each month.

What you get in every online lesson:

A live tutor, not a recording
One student per lesson
Male or female Shia tutor
A plan that starts where your child is
Lessons on UK time, seven days a week
A short monthly progress update for parents

Faith and Identity

Keeping Faith Strong Growing Up in Britain

School, sport and friends fill most of a British child's week, and that is healthy. The risk is that the Quran slips to a rushed hour on Sunday, or to nothing at all. Short lessons at home, a few times a week, keep it part of normal life.

Many parents in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bradford tell us the same thing: they want their children to know the Quran and the Ahlulbayt (A.S.) as well as they know their school friends. A tutor who teaches in the Shia tradition makes that possible without a long journey.

  • Reading the Quran correctly, with Tajweed from the first lessons
  • Learning the stories and the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (A.S.)
  • Knowing daily Namaz, Duas and the reasons behind them
  • Feeling confident to explain what they believe
Our Courses

Courses You Can Study Online from the UK

Every course runs live and one to one. Younger children usually start with Qaida, while older students and adults can go straight to recitation or study of the meaning.

Not sure where to begin? The tutor will suggest a course after the free trial, and you can add a second course later. The courses page lists every course in full.

Across the Country

Families Across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Shia families live in big cities and small towns across the UK, and not every town has a Shia teacher nearby. Online lessons reach all of them with the same quality.

🏙️ London

Families in Greater London can see our page on Shia Quran teachers in London.

🏙️ The Midlands

Birmingham, Leicester and nearby towns, for families who would rather not travel after school.

🏙️ The North

Manchester, Bradford, Leeds and Blackburn, where evenings and weekends fill up quickly.

🏙️ Scotland

Glasgow and other Scottish towns, where a Shia teacher can be hard to find close to home.

🏙️ Wales and Northern Ireland

Smaller communities that gain the most from learning online.

🏙️ Towns and Villages

Any home with a decent internet connection can join a lesson.

Prayer and Rulings

Namaz, Fiqh Jaffari and Everyday Practice

Namaz is the part of the Quran lesson that children use every day. Our tutors teach Adhan, Iqamah and the obligatory prayers step by step, with the right postures and recitation, and they correct small mistakes early before they become habits. Girls and women can learn with a female Shia Quran tutor.

In Fiqh Jaffari, students and adults learn the rulings they need for prayer, fasting, purity and halal and haram, following the school of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (A.S.). It is explained in plain English, using situations a UK family actually meets.

Older students can also study the words of Imam Ali (A.S.) in Nahjul Balagha and the Ziyarat taught in our Ahlulbayt course. Tutors choose short passages and talk about them, so the lesson feels like a conversation and not a lecture.

For Children

Online Shia Quran Classes for Kids in the UK

Young children learn best in short, friendly lessons. Our tutors keep each session calm and simple, with plenty of praise and a little repetition. Most children begin with the Arabic letters and sounds, then move on to reading the Quran.

Younger children do well with a parent nearby for the first few weeks. Once they feel at ease, most are happy to learn on their own. Read more about our Shia Quran tutors for kids to see how we work with children.

For Adults

Online Shia Quran Classes for Adults in the UK

Adults often say they feel shy about starting late. A private online lesson takes that worry away: nobody else is watching, and you move at your own speed. You can learn in the evening after work or early in the morning before the day starts.

Some adults want to read the Quran for the first time. Others want to improve their recitation, or understand what they read. If you are new to the faith, the tutor will start with the basics and never rush you.

Getting Ready

What You Need to Start Learning from Home

You do not need anything special. Most families already have everything.

  • A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera and speaker
  • An internet connection that can hold a video call
  • A quiet corner and a copy of the Quran
  • The Zoom or Teams link we send you

All lessons run on UK time, which is GMT in winter and BST in summer. Tell us if your child has school clubs or other plans, and we will find a slot that fits. You can move to a different time later without any fuss.
