Faith and education growing together, wherever a family lives

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Dear Momineen, and dear parents,

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

Many of you left your homelands to build a better life for your children: better schools, safer cities and more opportunities. Alhamdulillah, many of you have succeeded. But I have also heard the same worry from parents again and again, in the UK, America, Canada, Australia, Europe and the Gulf: “My child is doing well at school, but who will teach them their religion?”

In a non-Muslim-majority country, a Shia family may live hours away from the nearest imambargah or madrassa. Children spend most of their day surrounded by other beliefs, and by the idea that faith is not needed at all. Without someone to teach them, many grow up knowing a little about everything except their own religion. They can be influenced by other religions or by atheism, simply because no one gave them the answers to their questions.

I started ShiaEdu to close that gap. As a scholar, I have spent my life studying the Quran, Shia Aqaid and Fiqh Jaffari, and I learned to explain them in clear English for children and young people raised in the West. Our aim is simple: to give overseas Momineen and their children easy access to authentic Islamic teaching, wherever they live.

We want every child to recite the Quran correctly, to understand what they believe and why, to pray as the Ahlulbayt (A.S.) taught, and to love the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) and his family. And we want them to do all of this while they go on to university and careers, so that higher education and strong faith grow together, not one at the cost of the other.

That is why ShiaEdu is built the way it is. Lessons are one to one, at times that suit your family’s week. Each tutor is personally interviewed and tested before teaching. Parents can sit beside their children or join any class. And our free interactive Islamic books for Shia kids help children keep learning between lessons.

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) taught that seeking knowledge is an obligation on every Muslim (al-Kafi). I pray that Allah makes ShiaEdu a means of that knowledge for your family, and that through our children the light of the Ahlulbayt (A.S.) stays alive in every country where they live.

If you are looking for an online Shia Quran academy that will teach your child the way you would teach them yourself, I warmly invite you to begin with a free trial class.

With duas,

Maulana Muntaziri
