What to Expect From Your First Lesson
The first lesson is free. You meet your tutor on a video call, and the tutor listens to your child read, asks a few simple questions and explains how lessons work. You only need a device with a camera and a quiet place to sit.
Afterwards the tutor suggests where to begin and how many days a week would suit your child. If you would like a male Shia Quran tutor or a female Shia Quran tutor, just say so, and we will match you.
Parents are welcome to sit nearby. Many families find that listening in is the best way to help a child practise between lessons, and ten or fifteen minutes a day is enough for most children.
Helping Your Child Practise Between Lessons
Short, regular practice works better than one long session a week. Ten or fifteen minutes a day, at the same time each day, is enough for most children, and it helps to read aloud in a calm place without other screens nearby.
Tutors set small goals for each week, such as a few lines to read or a page to revise. If a goal feels too big, tell the tutor and it can be made easier. The aim is steady progress and a child who enjoys learning.
If your child is shy, mention it. A kind word, a short story from the life of the Ahlulbayt (A.S.) or a quick revision of an easy surah at the start of the lesson can help a quiet child feel ready to speak.
